Easter 2017

We did all the usual Easter traditions this year but a little of the excitement  has worn off. It's a gentle reminder to cherish these days of you two being little and extra fun!

It was raining Easter eve and for us that meant trouble because our little bunny woke before the big Easter bunnies had!

Luckily we were able to talk you into going to your room and not waking your sister or looking out the window until 7:00!

Nice work! 

It was a new landscape for a hunt filled with blooming tulips, trickling water, green grass and sunshine. Thank goodness the tree trimmers got the saw wedged in the tree otherwise the yard would have been covered with a blanket of branches!

This year you had to unscramble some letters to get the clue for the toys that wouldn't fit in your baskets! Thanks to you Jacob, you were able to unscramble and had some excitement for the Osmo and Barbie that the bunny added to our collection! 

Thankful for the rest of the day that made it feel like the season. The season of hope, forgiveness, new life and beauty that unfolds on a daily basis! 

Our little girl

Aunt La commented about how you are starting to look like me...and I'm still not sure about that. Here is my attempt at your baby book. It would have had a page with your weight and mine for comparison. Your weight was 6 lbs 9 oz? Oh geez I already forgot yours. I hope someone wrote it down somewhere! I don't want it to become over exaggerated like..."I once caught a fish story!" 

I'd say I wasn't a very cute baby. I weighed 8lb 13 oz.(something like that)

I sat next to a 2 week old baby a couple weeks ago and she was just your size in this picture. I was able to guess her weight dead on. So I do remember how tiny you were, I just needed a real life replica to take me back in time to remember what you were like. 

So here's a picture of my real you in April 2017. You are a solid five year old and are so strong. Your brother is going to have some tough competition in five years or so! 

This was your quote of the day:

You: I didn't know I had salami

Me: (wondering where he heck that came from) what made you say that?

You: well, when I burped it tasted like salami! 

Too fun! You got your hot dog fix for the month with a treat at SAMs club while I picked up some goodies. Hot dog/salami it all burps the same. 

Sick

Last week you were the one who was sick. I owe you big time for coming to get me and making it to the toilet every single time...even if it included 20 extra trips with false alarms. You actually wouldn't go until I held your hair, and you actually didn't bounce back the next day. Your fever was high and you couldn't keep any medicine down which explains why it took you longer to bounce back. 

Finally, on Thursday, your morning breakfast request with more than extra whip topping made me smile...because it meant you were back! 

Spring firsts

What happens when it's 50 degrees and friends come over...we enjoy every last ray of sunlight! 

This looks like one of the warmer days we had in November. Thank goodness I hid part of the s'more stash from you and dad over the winter and Drew brought fresh worms! Impromptu fires are the best.

We enjoyed our first fish and s'more...too bad you won't settle for other people catching them for you anymore. Well not really. There will be many more chances to catch one.
