Your dad and I weren't quite sure how things would turn out after getting pregnant with you. Lucky for us they have turned out pretty wonderful. This is my attempt to document what has been the fastest 6 years of our life! I can't believe it, six years really? It wasn't too long ago we had our first glimpse of you at 20 weeks. Today, I can still see that very same profile I saw in our first ultra sound. You look like your dad, but I can see me in your eyes.

Most of my mornings were content with cream of wheat, pancakes a, below average coffee and the today show.
My evenings were filled with hospital bingo (when I wouldn't forget) or simple visits to the ice machine or hot water for tea. Special nights consisted of friends coming to visit because they knew I am the social one. Somehow I didn't do any orchestrating or planning the events. They just happened and probably kept me feeling normal.
Like I said, you behaved while in the hospital and did well with the daily heart beat monitor. So, it made your arrival that much more special and increased the chance that we might be able to take you home before Christmas.
So, your dad suggested we meet you right away once you turned 36 weeks. Ready or not, here you were and everything was just fine! Your dad didn't even have a chance to finish his donut or coffee for that matter. They came and got him and introduced you two through the glass and then into the nursery with Jackie. Dad said you were quite loud (you were looking for me) and you appreciated his finger to sooth you. We chose to feed you with these 5ml syringes until you were a little bigger and your were ready to give me a new full time job. It seemed like the hardest thing to do in the world! Your arrival surprised everyone, and the fact that I was left in tact made it an added bonus! So i guess we were ready to tackle this "life" that we had wished for and were so graciously given.
We scooped you out of the hospital and left with several carts full of my belongings and headed out on the roads to beat a storm and cuddle up in the warmth of our home.
That's what we continue to do with you. In fact to this day, you are requesting dad to come and "snuggle or lay with you". We wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world. Jacob, you are the fun in our life. You can suck dad in like it is your job. As far as I go, well currently you beat me out of bed, but the mornings that you want to just snuggle are what we both need.
There is something about your smile, your eyes, and your little dimple. These past 6 years have really just flown by. The thing that stinks about them going so fast is how you are getting more and more grown up.
You have been quite the blessing. Not giving us too many scares, just enough to be life lessons and will hopefully keep you safe. You have shared some wonderful family moments and I will treasure them forever!
Keep growing sweeter with age.
