DESTIN 2014
This was the trip to the beach that your dad and I realized life isn't about us anymore...it's about you two. Both of us couldn't be any happier about that. Instead of multiple trips to our favorite steakhouse, McGuires, we were content with chicken tenders, french fries, pepperoni pizza, egg rolls, noodles and that's all. That pretty much sums up the list of things you, Jacob, would rattle off when we asked what you wanted for dinner. Luckily we found peace with Publix, Sushi and Chinese buffet, as well as our hotel pizza! What a time we had on the beach. I'll never forget the first two days we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. You and dad were quite content at your finding your new collection of jellyfish, and the best part was that you guys had fun in the rain, wind, cold ocean water, and especially in the sunshine. We were some of the first ones to the beach and some of the last ones under our umbrella. Each day we would finish up in the pool, where you were determined to be a swimmer and Julia was as independent as ever.
You even spent some of your own money on a snow cone for me! Pina Colada of course.
There were actually live Jellyfish to catch! Thankfully not by you!
I'll never forget you coming up to me in the grocery store with this watermelon in your hand. How could I say no...even if I didn't know the price was only $2.50.

It's that time of year when I call Resort Quest to reserve our little taste of Paradise for Spring Break! It's the only way we get through the awful Iowa winters. Here's a little recap of our trip last year. This will help put anyone in the mood for Florida's panhandle, not that you need it on a "bitterly cold" day!
Julia loved playing in the sand, but the snacks on the beach were always hit too! |
Something about you and Grandma always having the same expression in pictures. |
Florida is our happy place:) |
