Making sure Julia didn't go anywhere.

Julia caught on quickly with just a little help from PA.

It didn't take you long to figure out the cause and effect of waving and treats.

 MAKE WAY FOR OUR LITTLE DUCKLINGS    

SPRING 2013

This momma duck braved the Iowa crazy spring with not much shelter.

We checked on this duck daily and hoped that the little eggs wouldn't hatch while away in St. Louis.

Lucky for us we were able to notice the momma duck moving a little bit more than normal, giving us a clue that there might be some activity underneath her.

Better yet, after we noticed they hatched we were able to watch their departure.

We followed them as far as they could head west...and then they met the fence and were forced to continue their adventure through backyards.

We returned home with curiosity and were amazed when we didn't find much left in the nest. 

Jacob is still wearing chocolate icing on his face as he was eating a donut at the table when I yanked him away to follow the ducklings on their new adventure.

We hope they come back again next spring!
