We Are...

Penn State!

We are so lucky to have had this day as a family! Eight years ago things could have turned out very different. How did dad and I not catch that we were in Iowa city on the day of our Iowa city anniversary? So much fun we've had in those eight years, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

In order to beat the heat we had to fill our day with water balloons and popsicles. You guys were so amazing...we received lots of compliments! When we weren't on an adventure to the bathroom, tattoo tent or bouncy house, I didn't even know you were in our tailgating spot. You were warming up to complete strangers that happened to be cute and friendly! You didn't wander away, you didn't whine or complain, you didn't beg for a souvenir and you didn't even finish the $10 worth of candy we bought you. It really was that hot and had us all a little low.

Our day in pictures...

Even though we were in the Penn State section, we were closer to more Iowa fans. So....it really wouldn't have been too exciting to watch the win happen right in front of us because the reactions around us might not have been too pretty!

Instead we scooted right out of our lot and through town to get a Steak 'n Shake milkshake and dads favorite sandwiches. That made it the anniversary celebration. The fact that we got to do it with two little amazing kiddos still has me forever grateful.

To my little ones born in the Hawkeye state...thanks for making us smile all-day-long!

These days with julia

So far so good! I think you and I were both ready for kindergarten. The little Julia that I was ready to ship off to grandparents and aunts earlier this summer is no longer! Our time together is short but sweet! You are really enjoying school and learning about your letters through jelly phonics. In fact you won a lip gloss from your teacher because you know and can rehearse them perfectly! Including the actions. It's amazing how they are sticking to you in the form of a song.

This past week we met up with another 7 and 5 year old brother and sister that live in our subdivision, go to our church and play on Jacob's flag football team! It's nice to have some variety within a short walk!

Thankful for field trips and writing and drawing time with you.

Thankful that you have a routine in the morning and it involves brushing your hair:) and putting mismatched socks on.

Thankful for you telling me about your day and that you got strawberry milk.

Thankful for the time when you and your brother get along and we sing and dance to videos.

Or simply just get lost in your own little world in the back yard with a friend and an umbrella.

Thankful for a dog that is pretty stinking good with you and is trainable! Yes, you trained him to shake yesterday!

These days with you are fun and a treat!  I hope I am enjoying every minute of them with you.

Football

This post is for all of your biggest fans to get a taste of what it's like to watch you on the field this year. Let's just say you weren't the only one smiling. Your athleticism showed up once again. This time without the ice skates. You were a moving machine. You were "reading plays" or just having a clue that the other team was handing the ball off and occasionally they might do a reverse. You were going to where the player was going, which made the flag grabbing more prosperous! You were smiling with your teammates and congratulating them when they made a touchdown or a nice play. You even waved to me and said hi! Wow. Melt my heart. LOVE IT! I love that it gets us out of the house on Saturdays as a family. I love that their is no concession stand, because I'm cheap! I love that Julia knows more kids than I do and she plays with them and even chases boys!
