‘Tis the season

You two still celebrate the season by being around the people you love! When it came to baking and making this year, six hours of crafting at Stephanie’s House was enough. If we forgot someone this year it really wasn’t intended. That’s why there’s such things as thankful gifts any time, right!

Once again I wish I had more pictures but I don’t. Your dad was pretty good about capturing the looks on your face each morning when it came time for you to find the elves or check to see if there was anything in your stocking. Me I was barely getting out of bed to get to work on time! I heard it all in the background (thankful our house isn’t more spread out for that reason).

Just like the lights in the backdrop, I hope that

Thankful

Julia summed it up pretty well thebother day when she was thinking back to the month of November. Spending time with people who love you is a pretty good feeling. I second that. Having extra help during conferences and for turkey day prep was life saving. I’m thankful that when the help arrives everyone appreciates one another and enjoys each other’s company!

Here’s s few pictures to show you that I missed a whole lot of memories while I was working, but hopefully you will still remember how special it is spending time with all of your grandparents.

"Whittle" bit

Instead of trying to document what I haven’t done for the last several months, I figured I could start little and see where I end up.

Most recently we had another successful tree hunt. Jacob is sticking to math and the cost of trees over the years, while Julia is waiting for next year where she gets to make the final decision. Our tree is perfect and fits perfectly In our family room. I’m so thankful we were able to enjoy this season once more with you.

You both kicked the season off with excitement and found your own tree at the end of a treasure hunt the day after thanksgiving. Luckily aunt la was around to take you to Hobby Lobby to pick out the themed ornaments that fit your personalities so well.

These days

I’d say these days are just about as opposite as can be. You went from an active busy two sport playing boy to a boy who will have to improve his LEGO skills. How did we get someone like you...that can hang with an injury and not complain or really cry about it. Or did you and I ignored it...I hope not!

These days the weather hasn’t left us with an in between either. It was hotter than heck and full of mosquitos when I wanted to visit the orchards with you, to the following wet weekends and now this weekend it was 50 and snowing the next day!!

Now that I’m back to work we sure are

Return of BASS BOY

Dad says you have a different walk...I say you have a fishing story to tell!

I’ll take any temp of coffee and I’m too tired for beer

Life is good. I have a new purpose and my family is rising to the challenge. For 6 years I haven’t worried about bedtimes, morning routines, after school routines or really much of anything. We just went with the flow and I somehow managed to feel like i haven’t accomplished much

I have the privilege to help and care for kids that aren't' my own and I love it. I love teaching now that you guys are in school and I have a comparison. I understand the boys who can't sit still, the girls who are super sweet and a role model for others. I understand the boy who is good at math and ok at writing. I understand that it's ok for some numbers to be reversed as long as you understand what you are trying to do and what strategy you are using. I understand the need to feel wanted and the importance of having a plan at recess. I understand boys and girls are trying their best and the need for brain breaks and fun! I understand not everyone is going to get it on the first try, but boy it would be nice.

I understand that teaching is more than something you can just show up to do and put together last minute. I'm ready and excited for the challenge to get a new identity back. This time I really want all students to say, Mrs. Evans is your mom? She was the best teacher!
