Special friends

Sometimes there are special people in your life and when you meet, you just click. I was pretty lucky to have Doni. I just wish she was closer because she is the best mom and teacher I know.
Her two kids are some of the best around. Lucky for us, we might get to see her more often in a couple years...with a little toddler:)

After spending a dinner date with her family, Jacob was making the moves on Asia. In fact the next day he was planning a date night for me and Todd and had the babysitters lined up! "Mom, why don't you and dad go to a movie where kids can't go and we can have babysitters."

St. Louis love

You two are so lucky to be loved by two sets of grandparents. One set happens to be closer which allows my parents to spoil me and double spoil you.
Not only did my parents meet me half way, but my dad took both kids and a dog back to the house so a mom and her little girl could have some time together...shopping! It's been a few years since this has happenened without one of you kids sleeping...and it felt so good to gain some of that freedom or the simple life back again.
Anyhow, your week was pretty well packed. It was filled with Butterfly house, carousel rides, jump jump, pool, lots of popsicles, cousin time, Johnny Cash, Purina farms, and anything else you wanted!

Two is better than one

Life would be so lonely if I didn't have my siblings. Even though I prepared myself to not be able to have children, to being happy with one, I thank God I have the gift of two children. I couldn't imagine my days without the two of you and what you guys would go without each other? Yes, there would be no fighting over toys or nights of chase with it ending with someone screaming, but there wouldn't be the laughter or I love yous that just
melt my heart. Tonight at the store you were both strapped into a pink grocery car cart and Jacob was giving Julia zerberts on her belly! Crazy kids! I just love you two together:) (most of the time)

I hope I don't forget the sound of julia sharing her Doritos on the drive back to Iowa and using your thank you and "welcome, Jacob."

I hope I don't forget how Jacob tries to teach Julia something and it how Jacob usually has to say, "now listen Julia."

Hello, I'm Johnny Cash

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect night at the park listening to Johnny Cash. It could have been better if Todd was with us and the kids were more stationary, but other than that it was pretty sweet to see Jacob recognize the majority of the songs.

However, most of his attention was given to his cousins who allowed him to play basketball. He was so energetic and was relentless when it came to asking for someone to pass him the ball.

Julia on the other hand was testing out her fast shoes on the asphalt, and unfortunately she found out that it's not such a good idea to run down the hill. We warned her...and now it's one of the stories she tries to tell others:) it usually involves "grandma said stop and mom said run in the grass."

It slowed her down a bit but I think when dad gets home it will be all better.
