Make a wish

“I wish for a husky puppy!” Julia. 01/20/2018

For a little 6 year old that’s a pretty tough wish to grant. So hopefully a trip to the stuff a toy with money from your cousins did the trick. It’s not too often that we get a mini shopping spree and trip to Panera with Grandma and Aunt La!

Thank goodness you didn’t go for any of the bark boxes to go inside of the stuffed husky. Thank goodness we got you a decent meal before you crashed before your birthday party!

Aside from the knee to your mouth, your birthday night was well done! I even got to sit and catch up with neighbor friends.

Your emoji cake was just what you ordered and the food was consumed and finished off the following day!

Now the birthday party I’m most excited about hosting...I don’t have to clean up before or after, the table is set,the pizza is cut and served, the candles will be lit and the party bags are ready! I just have to tolerate the noise and craziness that the night will bring, but I plan to pop a good movie in when we get home...so it should be manageable!

You may not have your real husky pup, and your wish may not come true for the next twenty years, but I’m pretty sure our wish came true and we have a Buster dog that loves you! What a great addition to our family! Sweet dreams, Julia! So glad that we’ve had six good years with you.

Not sure how you are turning 6 years old and I'm not really sure how we got on this emoji kick!

On the way home from Chuck E Cheese we all were happy that we don’t have anymore birthdays for a while! In fact you were partied out and hopefully your  upset stomach was from all the sugar and not the bugs floating around!

Both of you were more than perfect! You used your manners, you welcomed guests, you shared and didn’t complain, you smiled and just had fun with others! THANK YOU!!

Uncles

Your dad and I are pretty fortunate to have childhood memories with our uncles. Uncles that took us places we didn't normally go with our own fathers. Uncles that provided us with savory foods and sweets either from scratch or specialty shops. This past week your dad lost one of his uncles that gave him so much growing up.

You might remember him as the man who had you over for home cooked meals in Pennsylvania, or the man whose wife made really good mashed potatoes, or the uncle that had a really big hill in his backyard that you could roll down, or the uncle that always had something good to tell you about. He was an uncle special enough to drive his sister out to meet her grandchild. That was pretty special. I sure hope you guys are there for each other, and make it a point to see each other. I also hope you make it a point to be in touch with your uncles and tell them how much you appreciated the time they shared with you growing up.

Your year of 5

I don’t seem to remember too many facts from when you were 5 days old, 5 weeks or 5 months so I thought I’d better write a few of them down so we can have a chuckle or two 5 years from now.

When you were 5 you went from a cowboy shirt, jean wearing girl in who could barely make it to preschool on time, to a cotton shirt/yoga pant athletic shoe girl who has only missed the bus 1 and a half times!

In school, you are still a teacher pleaser and ok playing by yourself at times, but you love a good friend too! In fact you are going from not really having any close friends your age to having enough of them to have a party at Chuck E Cheese.
This year you have only taken a dance or gymnastics class for a 1/4 of the year and have managed to perfect your cartwheel and are moving on to a one handed one.

You are still the first one to laugh and continue laughing...but this year you were still the one in our family to throw a fit and cry. I mean cry because you were frustrated or overly tired...or was it because you were working on your career in DRAMA! I'm not sure, but I'd be ok if you grow out of that and just be a happy go lucky kinda kid!

You and your brother may have played a handful of times together that melted our hearts...there were a couple days you guys got lost in your imaginations! You started the year of five wanting to bug him a lot to not really caring, and playing with your friends as much as he requests to play with his! Some of your older neighbor friends moved on this fall, and you handled it rather well. Thanks for understanding.

You are still my number 1 model and photo assistant. However, instead of really getting my clients to smile you would rather be along for the ride watching videos of people pranking people on my phone!

You have requested to play t ball, and I think you might be ready for the next level up from recreational. If it comes to going to practice and pulling you away from your friends, I might as well not even sign you up...or make sure they are doing it too! Everyone was impressed with how coach-able you were and how much awareness you had to what was going on and didn't dance or play in the dirt too often! You sprinted hard and were ok being the first to do something but weren't really pushing others over like your brother might have.
Ok, this is the only day you sported jean capris to school...because they happened to be "Super light" and a recent treat from PA.

How did I almost forget our rough May and early June? See if I don't write it down or pull up a picture it would be gone. I'm not going to lie or sugar coat it...I wanted to ship you off for the start of summer. You had a hard time adjusting to the new dog and having your brother home from school. You didn't want to listen and I was prepared for a dog bite because of it. Instead of this behavior continuing, you shaped up and are now one of Buster's favorites!
