Laughter

I wish I played with you more. I wish I wasn’t always in the kitchen. (I don’t have to be, but that just seems to be how it works out) I don’t like to sit much unless I’m working on the computer...and I get too easily distracted when I do stop to play. However, I’m thankful that I get to be a part of your play when friends come over because our house doesn’t let you get too far away from the kitchen!

The past two nights I’ve laughed with both of you. It was needed; and it felt so good. Last night it was Jacob and I getting a kick over our neighbors daughter’s family last name, and tonight it was Julia not hearing me clearly and answering a question a totally different way!

Last night I let you stay up to watch a movie even though we didn’t get home until almost 10. I knew you were tired, but I do get tired of being the practical mom. So against my better judgment we stayed up too late and you, Julia, were such a crab! You cried about everything even in front of your new friends! Anyhow, I just wanted to see how I could help you and get you to stop that behavior.

Me:  So Julia. What do you want me to do when you are having trouble and are crying and being a big crying baby? Do you want me to get you a bowl of sugar, remove you from the room...?

You: Well you could bake them some cookies. If I get married and have kids you could just be the grandm that bakes them stuff.
