I Took a few pictures of your last hockey practice. Hopefully, they will help us remember the little guy that showed us his potential at the age of 6.
After skate lessons, we weren't sure if your skating skills were up to par to throw you in with a group of kids that had more experience than you on the ice.
However, you rose to the occasion and over the course of a dozen practices/scrimmages you not only improved your skating skills dramatically, you gained more confidence and determination. For something that wasn't easy and could have been very intimidating your athleticism came in handy. It gave you a sense or awareness to what was going on during scrimmages that caused you to want to defend the goal as much as you wanted to have a chance at a face off. It had you getting ahead of the puck to holler at a teammate for a pass. Your athleticism and coaching from your dad had you doing anything and everything (falling and getting up quickly) to have a handle of the puck.
The excitement from scoring a goal is caught in these next few frames that will forever have me smiling! I guess falling asleep to watching the professionals for the last few years came in handy for something...you are lucky reading came easily for you!
Goal!!! Stick in the air and heading back to center ice with a smile on your face and an arm in the air, just like the Penguins.
And then you turn and look at your dad to celebrate with him and skate as fast as you possibly can to make a change of players.
There you sit, patiently waiting your turn and not caring too much about what the other players are doing around you.
For the next memory we have of you...is not really listening to your coach because getting your stick on any puck in close proximity is soooo much more fun!
