The name of the band is...

Last weekend we had the chance to sneak out of town to catch up with fun Jeff and go to an outdoor concert to see one of our favorite bands. We had no idea what to expect, but the venue was ideal! Not to mention the perfect weather after a storm:) if we went there thinking we wouldn't last the whole time and wouldn't hear our favorite song, I'd say our night would have been just what we needed. We left feeling a little empty and craving more, but we also left with two tired kids who appreciate music no matter where we are. Singing in the van with the windows down while turning people's heads on the way to the show was the memory I'll take with me.

The following day might be the one you guys store in your memory books. The hotel didn't have a breakfast so ice cream cones before a morning swim seemed like the perfect summer thing to do. You guys were able to pick up where you left off with Jeff last year and dad and I felt like we were reliving the good ole days!
The next week we took you to an 80's venue up at UNI...where I'm pretty sure you won't remember any of the music but you'll remember playing catch in the parking lot! Oh, and the guys who jumped up in the tree to get you a stick while you were taking photos with my phone. Ragbrai is certainly an experience I'll never have...but I'll enjoy the festivities it brings to town.

Instead of hopping on our bikes the next day and tracking over 50 miles to Hiawatha like all of the other bikers in town, we drove north with a bike and scooters in our van to visit a friend. (Won't make that mistake again)
Jacob, you pedaled your little yellow bike like you were ready for the trails, while your sister pouted in the van:( because we only brought her scooter like she requested!
What a big milestone for you buddy.

No, you can not be seen in these pictures because you were with the older boys enjoying the freedom a bike can bring. Yes, I was a little nervous because I thought Julia and I would be following behind...but at the end of the day I was proud of my little 5 year old! You knew what to do when you had to use the restroom as well as what to do when you saw a butterfly! Click! You coming up with the idea to grab a net to go catch butterflies and then pointing your finger and sharing your plan with the older boys...made me one happy momma. So much to be thankful for.
