Tonight, dad was going for the gold. He had big plans to take you guys on a new adventure. It involved three paddles, life jackets, a canoe hidden in the tall grass and fishing gear. This time his adventure didn't cost anything. It would be your night of firsts. First time in a canoe, first time not really casting to catch a fish and the first time snacks weren't packed!
Long story short. We tipped trying to launch the canoe. That was it. In two feet of water dad and I were soaking wet from our heads to our toes, Julia was crying because she wanted a change of clothes that we didn't pack and Jacob was done with canoes for the rest of his life.
As we were trying to dump the water from the canoe, you piped up and said "I think we caught a fish in our canoe."
That would have been too funny, as I already couldn't stop laughing because I didn't want my mood to ruin it for the kids. No one caught on and chose to laugh it off with me. Needless to say, it wasn't the best adventure to the pond. However, it will be one I remember forever!
It was intended to be a night of fun...but the fun came later after we took our annual convertible ride to get ice cream.
As dad was backing the convertible in the driveway you two little cuties were giving him thumbs up saying good job dad!
So instead of singing row, row, row your boat from the canoe, we smiled as we listened to you sing Cowboy mouth and The Clarks in the convertible with the top down! This was the night you requested your own copy of blues travelers and to have a pirate ship be the boat you go on next because it won't tip! I just love the three of you guys.
